Here\'s a stunning vintage sequined knit sleeveless shell - I\'m not the original owner and don\'t know exactly how old it is, but I\'d say it probably dates to the early 1960s. As you can see in the photo, part of the label has been cut out, so there\'s no designer or manufacturer name or materials/size listing - it was HAND CRAFTED IN HONG KONG. It measures about 14\" across armpits when closed, 34\" around bottom circumference, 19\" down center back - so it\'s surely a size SMALL, probably about 6/8.
The ivory knit shell is covered with sparkly white sequins on front and back. There is also a gorgeous border of floral-shaped, gold and dangling pearl-ish beads going around just under the neckline, plus a line of diagonal bugle-type beads around the neck. The sequins and beading appear to be in terrific condition except that a few sequins appear to be missing around the shoulders. The knitted part of the sweater appears completely intact with no notable wear; ditto for the hook-and-eye closure at the top in the back and the metal zipper that runs down the back - but bear in mind that this is a decades-old vintage item. The shell has a satiny lining that is very nicely finished all the way around - no tears, but there is some discoloration around the neckline (as shown in photo). lining at the sleeves, which are unlined.
