In the mid- to late 1960s, a few establishments thought they had the solution to the problem - teen dance clubs.Hullabaloo Scene clubs started in 1965 in Waterford, Conn. and were franchised for about $15,000. They were patterned after the Hullabaloo television show featuring live music and go-go dancers. At the time there were 250 Hullabaloo clubs nationwide. The Hullabaloo Scene franchises were offered by John Angel, a teetotaling former night club owner from New London Connecticut, who purchased the rights to the name Hullabaloo from NBC-TV. Concessionaires got a package that included interior décor, sound system and help with advertising, community relations and selecting a band. The Hullabaloo clubs were open from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Music was advertised to be live, loud and continuous with new bands every night and occasional appearances by nationally known stars.Rules of the club:
