\"Back in the late 1990’s, a company named Ayr designed and produced a high-quality fly reel and named it the Frying Pan after the eponymous river in west-central Colorado. Vanishingly little information about this reel is available today because the company has long since disappeared, having apparently made only a very limited number of reels before closing up shop.
The Frying Pan reel was made in five different sizes, from 2.4″ to 3.6″ in diameter, and for each size there was both a regular-arbor or large-arbor spool, for a total of ten different reel combinations. These reels were CNC machined out of 6061-T6 aluminum and boasted a “traditional early-1900’s look with tomorrow’s technology,” combining a sealed Delrin disc drag with a frame design hinting at finding inspiration from the pillars of the Hardy Bougle.\"
