Vintage Retro Modernist Royal Copenhagen Denmark Fajance Bird Peacock Marianne Johnson Serving Dish. Measures 8 3/4\" square and sits 1 1/2\" in height. Hallmarked \"Royal Copenhagen Fajance Denmark 143/2884\" and artist Marianne Johnson\'s signature. Dates between 1969 - 1974. Beautiful vintage collectable dish! Lovely peacock figurine is painted in cobalt blue, green and purple on off white background. Great for serving an array of items or just display for it beauty.
Mid-century modern, highly detailed ceramic dish from Royal Copenhagen \'s TENERA series - designed by Swedish Marianne Johnson and produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s. One of the most famous series is Tenera series from Alumina, which had its start in the early 1960s. At the time the alumina factory was not doing well, with too little sales,and in an attempt to save the plant, hired six young Scandinavian women to create a modern series. Every artist created their own decoration style, while the shapes of earthenware vases, bowls, etc. were the same. Tenera series was a success and subsequently introduced new models. The series is known for its strong blue colors and imaginative designs. Tenera earthenware was produced until the mid-1980s.
