Attractive silver plate vintage 3 piece bachelor teaset and small oval gallery tray. The Tray is by Barker Ellis and clearly marked on the base, the teaset has no makers mark.
The teaset is an ideal size for one or two people. It has an overall oval shape to the body of all the pieces with a fluted design at the sides. The teapot has a black handle and finial, the sugar bowl and milk jug have silver plate handles decorated with an acanthus leaf where the handle joins the body at the top. All the items have a thin reeded pattern around the rims. The teapot has been used but is quite clean inside, the outside has some usage marks but is in good condition. The milk jug and sugar bowl are in good clean condition. The base of one of the handles on the sugar bowl has had a repair at some point in the past but it is secure now.
The gallery tray by Barker Ellis is in very good condition with a design of acanthus leaves and flowers with a vacant cartouche in the centre, it measures 11 x 8.5 inches or 28 x 21.5 cms and the gallery sides are 0.5 inches or 2 cms high. There are a few tiny marks which might improve with further polishing, there is no loss of plate or damage. The total weight is 1.3 kgs.All the items listed have been lightly polished and cleaned so that any defects, previous repairs or damage can be seen in the photographs and detailed in the listing. I do not repair any of the items. I note visible makers’ marks or back stamps and try to establish an approximate age for all the items I list.
