Vintage Silverplate flatware 1936 Gorham Coronation design by Oneida LTD. Service for 12 plus 8 serving pcs. Includes the storage box. This was a wedding gift purchased from Geary\'s in Beverly Hills in March 1976. Set is missing one salad fork. Used - needs polishing. As is condition. Not refundable

This lovely and highly collectible flatware was originally issued in 1936 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VIII. Ironically this was the Coronation that in the end never happened...Edward VIII ended up abdicating the throne in order to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson before his Coronation could take place. In spite of this, Coronation flatware has continued in popularity ever since. The pattern is a beautiful Art Deco design featuring a stylized royal crown atop a flower and leaf motif. This pattern is also sometimes referred to as Hampton Court.
