Very good Vintage Simplex Copper Kettle. Will polish up nicely. The lid is fits nice.Look carefully at this Simplex. I actually emailed the company pics of this kettle a few years ago, and received a nice reply from--the great-grandson! He said he hoped his kettles held as well as his great-grandfather\'s!I was told it was made around 1910 plus or minus a few years.The older Simplex Kettles differ quite a bit from the \"modern\" ones. The handles are Bakelite, not wood. The handle arms are copper, not brass. Importantly (for some) there is no whistle present. A super-cool feature of this specific Simplex Kettle is a patented double bottom. The idea being the water in the lower chamber would heat up faster (a bit noisy, too, as the water starts to boil--which I like :)). In all, I imagine these older, more complex, kettles cost too much to manufacture, as were thus simplified. I much prefer this older version.Excellent tinning inside (note, whether you buy this one, or another, look carefully at the inside. If they have been boiled dry, the tin gets cooked--not good). There is one small ding toward the back, and a couple smaller dings on the top of the spout. Also, there is a vintage repair to the lower edge of the handle. Overall, remarkable condition for its age. Please look are the pics.I will probably remove the handle for shipping (safer for the kettle).
