Vintage skeins of gold metallic smooth purl. French in origin. This is a thicker thread in compared to my other listings measuring just over 1/16 inches wide. Old stock from a cloister.

Smooth Purl is made from a very fine wire and wound to create a tubular length, like a spring. It has a smooth surface and looks shiny in appearance. This is a very delicate wire and must be used with care, it is usually cut into small pieces and sewn on like a bead. It is very often used over couched down strings to create a raised area.
