This two handled pottery jug has a very slender center spout.
It\'s a great example of southern folk art.
Created of red clay, the jug has been painted all over with a cream color.
Around the top and handles is a brown design.
It\'s a bit abstract, but looks to me like birds and flowers to me.
But someone else may see something else.
It measures approximately 12\" tall and 10\" in overall diameter.
Weighs approximately 3 1/2 lbs.
These old jugs were used for everything from holding seeds to keeping wine. The slender opening helped protect the contents.
This old jug is both utilitarian and decorative. It will look great displayed on a shelf in your cottage, cabin, or farmhouse. It will also be a nice addition to traditional or primitive decor.
