This is a super hard to find Spalding Flamethrower distributor for a Pontiac 347, 389, and 421 engines. This is the early model \"Spalding Pat. Pend\" model. Later models were labeled Grant Spalding. The only stamping I see is \"2757\" stamped on the edge of one of the cap mount bosses as shown. This may be the model/part number of this distributor, I\'m not sure. I don\'t imagine you will see another one of these anytime soon. If you want a unique ignition system for your Pontiac, don\'t miss this unit!
The Spalding Flamethrower distributor is a very unique unit. It is a dual point distributor that uses 2 coils(one coil per set of points). Each coil controls one side of the distributor which fire 4 cylinders each. This allows each coil more time to build up voltage and produces a hell of a spark. The WOW Factor when you see one of these distributors installed is off the charts. You can be pretty certain you will be the only one at the show or cruise night with a Spalding flamethrower controlling your spark!
This distributor looks to be in very good condition as shown. The paint is in original with wear. The unit spins freely with no binding or resistance. The caps are in very good shape with no corrosion or significant wear. The rotor also looks to be in very good shape as shown.
