Vintage gorgeous cloth doll Spanish or French liberty cap handmade sweet:

A vintage mid 1940 - 1950\'s pre-owned designer doll of 14\". It is handmade, of cloth, including the head which looks like fabric, but feels hard. She has a lovely hand painted face and mohair wig and wears a red liberty cap with gold fine wire long tassel which hangs down the back. Her form fitted bodice and sleeves are black or very dark brown lace trimmed with orange ruching, metallic gold tiny rickrack and silver gray sequins. The Juliette sleeves are lined at the bottom with pink taffeta which matches the long pink taffeta skirt. She has a decorative medal at the front jacket closing and wears a lace jabot with lace at the end of the sleeves. The skirt is lined with crinoline and is hand hemmed. Underneath the skirt are grey silk pantaloons ending in deep peachy orange felt slippers trimmed in orange ruching. The doll is able to stand on its own. This doll is a puzzle to me. Not sure if this is a Spanish doll or a French doll; it would help if I knew more about dolls. I took a stab at it. It is so beautiful and the handwork is just wonderful. But I have seen similar dolls advertised as Spanish, and found one on with a Greek tag advertised as a Trikeri doll which had a similar face. None of those I saw had cloth hands, as this doll does. The costume has a French feel to me, but that is a guess. There are some small holes in the fine lace on the sleeve. (One hand is attached to the skirt; the other free and never was attached.) There is a remnant of a paper tag on the bottom of one foot, or it is just to cover a round hole (perhaps for a wire) similar to the one without a paper covering. It is in very good or better vintage condition.Please see all pictures in magnification and message me with any questions or comments.
