Some general information about the watches I have listed (also applies to most old watches you see on ):
I am not a watchmaker, just a collector of vintage watches. Sometimes I get watches in lots and sell the ones I\'m not going to keep in my own collection. Most of my watches are sourced from the original owners and they are original and un-butchered. I do my best to describe them accurately as I see them in front of me at the time of listing. I take detailed pictures of the cosmetic condition (you can enlarge the pictures by clicking on them. You get the full picture size by clicking again - the enlarged pictures usually show every flaw. Mostly the watches look better in real life on the wrist than in the enlarged pictures). The pictures are part of the description.
Unless stated otherwise in the description I don\'t know the service history of mechanical watches and I have not tried to fit a battery to quartz watches.
Mechanical watches are delicate machines and they should be serviced regularly (usually every 5 to 10 years) to keep them in good working order. If they are old and not serviced recently they may work for another 10 years or they may stop at any time. All I can do is describe the watch accurately, as I see it, at the time of listing. Unless stated otherwise in the description, I test watches by winding them up and leaving them overnight to see if they work. I cannot give any guarantee that the watch will be the same tomorrow, in a week or in a year. If you intend to wear the watch regularly I recommend you get it serviced by a watchmaker. Old watches, even dive watches, may or may not be water resistant. I suggest you keep them dry just in case, or get them pressure tested by a watchmaker before you go near any water.
Quartz watches that are not working may just need a new battery, but the may also need repairs to the movement. There is now way of telling until you try to fit a battery.
Mechanical watches are not as accurate as modern quartz watches. They may run a little fast or slow and have to be adjusted from time to time.
