Description

This Union Pacific Railroad Step Stool was recently acquired at an estate sale of a longtime collector in Western Illinois. It is appealing, desirable & collectible. The Union Pacific Railroad is a freight hauling railroad that operates 8,500 locomotives over 32,100 route-miles in 23 states west of Chicago, Illinois and New Orleans, Louisiana. The original company was incorporated on July 1, 1862, under an act of Congress entitled Pacific Railroad Act of 1862. The act was approved by President Abraham Lincoln, and it provided for the construction of railroads from the Missouri River to the Pacific as a war measure for the preservation of the Union.
We present this item exactly as it was, when acquired. This cast aluminum platform was made by the Utica Radiator Corporation in Utica, New York. It is not cracked or broken. No attempts to clean it have been made. The legs have their original black rubber feet. They are complete but show some cracks. There is a vented box attached underneath in one corner. The information found on the interweb says it was used for rag storage. Platform measurements are approximately 15.5\" long & 13\" wide. Measurements from foot to foot are approximately 20\" long, 18\" wide & 10\" high. It shows wear as seen in the photos. These issues do not detract from the overall appeal of this old step. This railroad step stool is a fine example of U.S railroad memorabilia.. This step is being sold as-is for display or for restoration. It will make a great addition to any home or collection.
