Vintage U.S. Naval Academy Black Short Dress Uniform Jacket with Bow Tie.

This very nice jacket was obtained at an estate sale. It is black and short (dress uniform) with 6 gold buttons (with eagles on them)on the front (double breasted) and 2 gold stripes at the end of each arm with a gold embroidered star above the stripes on each sleeve. There is a collar and lapels and a button on the right inside with a loop on the other (left) inside to keep the jacket closed. There is a black clip-on bow tie in the inside left pocket. The label on the inside pocket reads \"Tailored for the US Naval Academy by Thorngate Uniforms, Inc., Norristown, PA - Professional Dry Clean Only\". There is another label inside the pocket noting that the Garment Workers of America worked on this uniform and it also has the name of the Naval Academy student who wore the uniform.

The jacket is generally in very good condition with just a couple of small faults. The stripes on the left sleeve are coming loose and the star above them is somewhat frayed. The star on the right sleeve is in good shape except it is coming loose (literally hanging on by a thread). Please see the photos for your own look. There is a leather strip about 1 5/8\" wide sewed on to the bottom of the inside back of the jacket. My son tried on the jacket and it was a very snug for him. He is about 5 feet 9 inchestall and weighs about 130 pounds. So it appears this jacket was tailored for a fairly small person (maybe a young lady?). If you need any measurements, please let me know (I am not a tailor and am not sure how or from where to where measurements are made). I will not accept a return because the jacket does not fit. Again, the jacket is in very good condition and probably could use a dry cleaning and some ironing.

Added 11-26-2014: I had a request for some measurements so here are a few I obtained.

Across the back from top of shoulder to top of shoulder seam is about 17 1/2 inches.

Across the chest from armpit seam to armpit seam is about 18 3/4 inches.

Arm length from shoulder seam to end of arm cuff is about 25 inches.

From the top of the collar on the back to the bottom of the jacket on the back is about 22 3/4 inches.

Across the narrowest width on the back near the waist is about 16 1/8 inches. Hope these help.
