Offered is this pair of vintage cast iron bookends with a design of a three-masted sailing ship on the ocean waves. They have a copper finish; apparently copper plated? They are marked \"Verona\". I have not been able to find out much about this company but it looks as if it was in operation during the 1920s-1930s; I don\'t know how much earlier or later.
The bookends stand approx. 5 1/4\" high. The base is 4 1/2\" wide and 2\" deep. They are in very good condition. They still show some of the original coppery shine through a nice patina. There is some light surface rust coming through the copper, mostly on the bases. There is some old polish residue visible in some of the indented areas that I have not tried to clean. It looks like the original felt is on the underside of the bases, worn and loosely attached but still intact.
