Vintage Virgin Mary & St.Therese Votive Candle & Holy H2O Religious Statue/1938?:

This unusual plaster(?)piece was found at an estate sale in South Louisiana. To me it isunusual in the fact that it is the Virgin Mary with another figure and that figure isnotJoseph or Jesus. I personally have never seen this combination in \'grotto form\' before.It really is in good condition. It has a place for a VotiveCandle and a small reservoir for Holy Water. It also has the Cross with the crucified Christ on it located between the two statues. A knowledgeable person told me that at the foot of Mary you will see a lump, that lump is the head of a snake representing the Head of Satan with Mary having her foot on it. That person also told me that on most statues she has her hands and arms outstretched but in this one she has them folded across her breast. This reflects the Immaculate conception. What a wonderful knowledge of this statue this person had.On the back of the statue(see pictures #2 & #8),one taken with flash and one without) is printed: 1938 COPYRIGHT ALL RIGHTS RESERVED M.J. CARBICAN CO . I have no idea if it is actually from 1938 but that is what is printed on the back. The item itself weighs about 12 pounds and is 14\" tall(tallest point) x 13-1/2\" wide(widest point) x 6\" deep(from the front of the votive candle spot to the back of the piece).The face of the Virgin Mary has a few issues, as the chin is chipped and the nose is chipped a bit. St. Therese de Lisieux\'s veil edge(by her face) has a couple of spots where the paint has come off, but other than those few things, it is a wonderful old piece.
I will pack it as well as possible to ship but it is a plaster-type, therefore I WILL include insurance in your shipping cost.
