This pizzelle maker was quite an unbelievable find at a local discount store clearance. As my wife and I use two much older Vitantonio machines during the holidays each year to bake pizzelles, I immediately recognized the box labeling. Not only was there a machine inside, I quickly realized (from experience) that it had never been used. The cardboard packaging was in place, but the interior protective wrapping was missing along with the instruction manual. It was a \"no-brainer\" to make the purchase. You are likely aware that Vitantonio, along with VillaWare, have long been the two premier manufacturers of Italian electrical cooking appliances such as this. At one time both manufactured there products in the USA. Unfortunately, both have succumbed to economic pressures and gone overseas. Sad, but this is why older machines such as this are sought after. You will see on the bottom data plate photo that this one was made at their Eastlake, Ohio plant, likely in November of 1992. Despite having been handled without all of its wrappings, the surfaces of the machine are as good as it gets. I tried to show this by taking pictures from every angle. You may find a few very light scuffs, but not many. To an experienced pizzelle machine user, it is obvious that it has never seen batter. The non-stick surface is pristine, and there is no evidence of batter overflow that invariably finds its way into the hinge areas after use. Of course I had to plug it in to test it electrically. As expected. it passed without a hitch, cycling on/off as it should. If you don\'t already know, the light glows once it is plugged in, and goes out when it reaches baking temperature. After this it turns back on then off as needed. When actually baking pizzelles, it is pretty much a continuous flow once the initially heat up, taking only around 30-40 seconds to output two. We started baking pizzelles about 6-7 years ago after inheriting the two machines mentioned earlier. It takes a little bit (and possibly a few expletives) to get the hang of it, but once you do you\'ll be hooked. If you have family, they will appreciate your output throughout the holiday season. Note that you really don\'t need the instruction manual. There is plenty of info online to include many different recipes. Thanks For Looking !
