General Detroit Corporation 1.5 qt. Chemical Warfare Services M2 Decontaminating Apparatus reproduced using a vintage, age appropriate (1940\'s), General Detroit Safety Phlare Pump 1.5 Qt. Fire Extinguisher (which is what the original ones were made from). It has been painted and has a correct, professionally made, replica decal applied. It measures approx. 17\" tall and 3\" in diameter. It is in overall very good condition with a few dents as seen in the last three pictures. Used by the Army, Marines, and Air Force, these apparatus were produced between 1940-1969 by various fire extinguisher manufacturers such as The General Detroit, Fyr-Fyter, Badger, and Buffalo. These used to contain either CC-1 (Chlorinating Compound) or DANC (Decontaminating Agent-Non Corrosive) and were used to decontaminate anything that was exposed to both chemical and biological agents. These apparatus were phased out in 1958 and obsoleted in 1972 in part because DANC turned out not to be non-corrosive to any equipment that it was sprayed on and to the brass extinguisher bodies of the apparatus itself. This apparatus is clean and empty and is being sold as a collectible item only.Unless my items are listed as New or MIB (Mint In Box/Bag) they are used, so expect there to be some wear and signs of usage.
