Vintage War Era Unsilvered Glass Tinsel Christmas Ornament PINK Blue Flowers:

Beautiful and rare glass ball shaped ornament with tinsel sprig inside from the World War II era. The ornament is unsilvered meaning that there is no interior silvering which would normally give an ornament a solid shiny finish. During the war years, metals were being conserved for the war effort and so they were not silvered. They still had an exterior paint or stain applied to give them color but no silvering. Because there was no silvering to reflect the light, many times a sprig of tinsel would be added to the interior to add some sparkle to the ornament.This ornament has a pink stain that still allows the ornament to be seen through. There are three white stripes painted around the center with blue hand painted flowers and leaves on either side of the striping.The metal cap has an unusual shape, perhaps in line with trying to conserve metal. It is worn across the top so cannot be read but I have another that is marked \"Made in US of A\".Measurements: 3\" tall not including the hanging loop and 2-5/8\" wide or 8-1/2\" around. This bulb is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and only some minor finish wear. See my other war era ornaments up for sale!
