Vintage WATERMAN Solid 18K Gold REPOUSSE PANSY Eyedropper Fountain Pen c. 1900:
$6350.00

WATERMAN\'S IDEAL solid gold eyedropper-filler fountain pen, hallmarked 18ct, straight cap, very intricate repousse floral and paisley pattern (flowers possibly pansies), indicia cartouche not engraved, good solid weight, a wonderful and very rare vintage pen, circa 1900. No pocket clip, as issued. No. 4 Waterman\'s Ideal New York heart-vent nib, gold (gold content not stated on nib).I have not filled this pen with ink, but it seems perfectly functional. One of the most beautiful and elaborate vintage Waterman\'s pens I have ever seen. It\'s scarcity and wonderful aesthetic appeal make it perhaps the most significant early Waterman currently on the market. I have confidence in this pen\'s appeal, and am starting it at $9.99 with .Not listed in Lambrou\'s \"Fountain Pens of the World\" (although somewhat similar to the No. 504 shown on page 32, of which Lambrou says up to three are known to exist). Not listed in Fischler & Schneider\'s \"Fountain Pens and Pencils: The Golden Age of Writing Instruments\" (although somewhat similar to the No. 502 shown on page 20, dated 1897).The closest model I\'ve found is listed on the Art of Pen website, under \"Other Rare Pens\". The pen is described as a Waterman 14K Solid Gold Pen (note that the present example is 18K solid gold). The photo on the site closely resembles this pen. Here is the description:\"This is a very rare Waterman eyedropper, straight cap, in 14k solid gold. It was sold in an American sale for more than 14,000 USD (plus fees).
This pen has a fantastic overlay with repousse flowers. Thanks to Rita L for picture agreement. I took this picture at the Los Angeles Pen Show in 2009.\"A rare opportunity to own a very beautiful and uncommon early Waterman masterpiece.
