Magnificent Vintage Last Rites Crucifix / Wall Art

SOLID & STRONG, WOODEN CROSS WITH GOLD PAINTED JESUS

This beautiful vintage wood crucifix is at least 50 years old.Very beautiful gold Jesus and \"INRI\" sign above his body. Nice details on the sculpture.I displayed the crucifix as wall art, and it looks quite wonderful. Pretty substantial in size, measuring13½\" long x 8\" wide and 1½\" deep, witha hole on the back that makes hanging a breeze.

The crucifixhas 2 pieces: the top slides open to reveal a compartment in the bottom that can hold sacramentals (candles, holy water, anointing oil, rosary, prayers, etc.) Perfect for a Catholic house, or one that appreciates the faith. BACK IN THE DAY most Catholic homes had one of these sets. Brings back MEMORIES from times gone by.

Gold Jesus is in good condition (that sounds funny!) HE – our Lord – is perfect. This representation… almost! Gold finish nearly blemish free. The rich dark reddish brown wood is in nice shape too, with some minor wear. A couple of very small dings / wear on edges.Nothing to detract from its attractiveness. Doesn\'t look like it was actually ever used in a ritual… top slides on and off with ease and inner compartments are very, very clean.

Overall a beautiful and unique piece of art.
