The owl sides also fold down for storage.Closed the rack is 13\" across...5 1/2\" wide and 1 1/8\" thickWhen sides are up the rack is 6\" tallThere is a small chip on one corner which was made during manufacturing (see pic)Due to age and wood swelling the bottom does not push into the side opening all the way so there is a 1/8\" overlap over the edge and inside when closed (see pic)Neither of these takes away from the beauty and uniqueness of the book rackRack weighs 1 1/2 lbs.
