This is a vintage Milliner\'s wooden HAT STRETCHER or Block, designed to stretch or measure hats.

The stretcher stands 14" high (36cms) and carries it\'s original sizing guide, which enables the block to fit and measure hats of a large size range. This particular example ranges from hats size 6 1/4 up to 7 7/8 and adjusts from minimum circumference of 20 inches (51cms) upto 25 1/8 inches (64cms). As well as hat sizes, the guide is also marked in inches and centimetres for the continental market.

Apart from some surface scratches/blemishes the wooden block and base are in very good condition with a nice age-related patina, with no cracks or major chips (please see photos). The screw/winding handle and threaded rod/rails are showing signs of age-related surface corrosion and wear to the chrome finish, but it is only superficial and therefore the stretcher is in good workng condition (see photos).

This item is very heavy, so once packed will weigh in excess of 5.5kgs.

This item will be sent by 24 Hour Courier within the UK.

Please note that this item, once packed safely, will exceed the maximum weight and/or size limits imposed by Royal Mail on all "Airmail Small Packet" services and therefore will be sent overseas by International Carrier, such as UPS, Fedex or Parcelforce. For larger/heavier items exceeding 2Kgs we may use a courier service.

Items are always shipped within 3 working days of cleared payment, but are usually despatched within 24 hours, sometimes the same day. Buyers are welcome to collect in person.

We ship worldwide, but overseas buyers should note that Royal Mail have maximum weight (2kgs) and size limits for Airmail and this includes Surface Mail and International Signed For. Items exceeding weight and/or size limits will be sent by International Courier, such as Fedex or Parcelforce.

If Post &Packing to a particular destination is not listed, buyers are advised to contact us for a shipping quote before offerding, as costs may vary even between neighbouring countries.

PLEASENOTE Good quality packaging materials are quite expensive; whilst we absorb most of this expense, our shipping charges do include a small amount (£1 or less) to cover part of the packaging cost. We are pleased to accept payment by Paypal, Postal Order, Bank Cheque/Transfer drawn on UKBanks or Cash on Collection. Unless agreed otherwise we ONLYaccept overseas payment by Paypal.
