*Beautiful vintage (early-mid 20th century) Indonesian cutlery set in styilized lotus pattern typical of Yogya silver work. Knives are marked \'HST800\', forks & spoons \'SW800.\' These hallmarks usually refer to the initials of the silversmith along with 800 for silver purity (on that note these are not 92.5% silver [as in sterling], but rather 80%). Still $375 in scrap value. The pieces are all lightly inscribed \'From Ouw,\' (Dutch East Indies connection).
NOTE: The knife blades are not original to the set and are instead Sheffield stainless steel. A couple of them were detached from thier handles when I purchased then lot. The combined weight of 703g is for the cutlery not including the knife handles (that is, the silver weight). I glued the detached blades into place after weighing them. They seem to match quite well (though may need to be fastened professionally for optimal strength).
