Vintage antique 1914 Montamara Festo Auto Race pin - indy 500 type board racing :

This is a collectable enameled pin from the very first race held at the board track near Tacoma Washington. The board track was operating from 1914 through 1922. Many famous auto racers of the early days raced here at it was the west coast runner up to the Indy 500 race.

The front of the pin is very nice. In the center it say Tacoma July 2 3 4.

The 9 in the date looks funny but I have seen one other of these and the 9 is exactly the same as on this one.

For a 103 year old pin to have survived from a race conducted with 103 year old race cars on a wooden race track is amazing.

Like any collectable the first and last are the ones to get.. The first even more so and this is the pin from that very first race.

The back of the pin is a tad tarnished. The pivot for the actual pin is thereand swivels freely with a little bit of the actual pin still attached. The other end where the pin catches is fine. It\'s just most of the straight pin itself that is gone. It should be easy to repair. I have made no effort to clean the tarnish on the back as I\'m not a collector and would not want to ruin such and old and rare piece.
