Up for sale is nice WW2 vintage built wooden model of the US Navy Submarine USS Nautilus (SS-168). The Nautilus wasa large \"Cruiser Submarine\" armed with 2 six inch deck guns and 6 torpedo tubes. The Nautilus entered service in 1931 and had a successful combat career in WW2 in the pacific. She was finally scrapped after the war was over.

This is the ancient Strombecker kit produced in the 40\'s and 50\'s. It is made of various bits of solid wood heavier than balsa along with some bits of wire for the masts and periscopes etc. Detail on these old wooden kits isnot really comparable to what we see todayin plastickits.

The model is about 11.5 inches long which works out to somewhereclose to 1/400 scale.Model is completeand isin good shape considering its age. The guns rotate and the rigging is more or less intact. Model could use a good cleaning. I gave it a quick wipe down but will leave further cleaning to the new owner.

A neat survivor from a bygone era.

I am saleing off several vintage models and other items and will combine shipping so please check out my other sales.
