Here for sale is a very old pair of solid 14k rose gold Victorian diamond earrings, circa mid to late 1800s. They are big and gorgeous on the ears.

I will get the "issues" out of the way first. A bit of the blue enamel is missing, and could be touched up if you choose to do that. Also, one of the smaller diamonds has a chip on the edge that extends down part of the pavilion. But when viewed as a whole, on the ears, these are a piece of history and will be noticed for their fine quality and antiquity.

They probably had some other kind of wire or screw post in their "first life", as it appears that the stud posts were added later, to created pierced earrings, as many people like to do with antique earrings.

Three diamonds are set in a curve on the lower half of each earring. The center diamond is set in a buttercup Belcher head, while the two side diamonds reside in bezels.

The diamonds in one earring measure approximately 2.5 mm (.06 ct each) for the side diamonds, and 3.7 mm (.18 ct) for the center diamond. The other earring has a 3.6 mm in the center and 2.6 mm for the sides. These are old European cuts, and as I said, one of the smaller diamonds has a chip on the edge. Our experienced estate jeweler estimates about .65 ctw in both earrings, and he grades them as G/H/I in color and SI-1 to I-1 (the I-1 diamond grading is for the chip, and one other stone has a speck of carbon--the others are clean).

The gold in the settings is hand-engraved with a twisted knot at the top of each earring and three dangling beads at the bottom--just beautiful.

These have no visible hallmarks but they do tests positive for 14k gold, guaranteed. They measure a full 1" top to bottom, bny 11/16" across. They weigh a hefty 11.5 grams and are in good antique condition, with the above "flaws" of the missing enamel and chipped diamond taken into consideration.
