For yourconsideration we are offering this wonderful vintage made in Japan speciallyfor Gump\'s pottery boy feeding a small bird on a log. The boy figurine and thebird sitting on a log each has a small metal peg which slips into a hole on thetop of the wood base. The two figurines are held in place on the board only bythese metal pegs, they are not permanently mounted onto the board. The woodbase has calligraphy script and a red script mark. I am not an expert, I do notknow the translation of the script. I am guessing it may be the maker and maybeartist signature, I am not sure. The bottom of the feet of the little boy havea sticker on each foot. The one sticker reads; specially made for Gump\'s, madein Japan. the bottom of the other foot on the boy is a round sticker withcalligraphy script. This is an estate sale find. I do not know the exact age ofthis piece or when it was purchased. I am not sure if it is Hakata Uraski. Ibelieve it may be; however; I am not sure. The boy figurine is painted withyellow and blue and white accents. The small bird is painted with brown, whiteand black. The boy and bird on long figurine are in good condition. There aresome surface dirt/dust and a surface rub line on the top. I did not attempt toclean this piece. I do not know if these will wipe away. the top surface of the wood base has some rubmarked where the piece moved on the base under the feet. There is also a faintcircle showing on the wood. I am not sure what this is from. There is nothingon the surface there, and the area is not raised or anything. I do not know ifthis can be polished or wiped away. I did not attempt to clean this. The woodbase measures approximately 6 &1/2\" by 5 & 1/8\" and isapproximately 3/4\" tall. The boy figurine measures approximately 3 &3/4\" across the front and it measures approximately 5 & 5/8\"tall. The boy figurine measures approximately 2 & 3/4\" deep from frontto back. This wonderful piece will make a fine addition to your collection. Itake great care in packaging your purchase. The cost of all packaging materialsand handling is included in the shipping costs.
