Dating from the 1940s this dress / tunic belonged to my neighbour\'s mother, a peasant farmer\'s wife here in rural France. I have a few of these tunics on other listings, but also some of her husband\'s clothing. eg work shirt, work trousers etc.All have been homemade by her with tiny hand stitches, and in general all are in great condition. These are all simple, functional workwear with no embellishments, and all made using what I think is ticking, clearly the fabric that was available.Remember that at the time that she made these clothes France was occupied by Germany, during the Second World War.

Ladies\' handmade chore dress or tunic in thick soft cotton - ticking?

This sleeveless dress or tunic is brushed on the inside for warmth.

It is A-line in style with extensions at the hem for ease of movement.

This is very much homemade and functional, but also very well made.

It has a drawstring neck which when pulled up makes the shoulders flounce a little.

underarm across to underarm 24\" or 62cm

from shoulder to hem 38\" long or 97cm

from shoulder to shoulder 18\" or 47cm

across the hem 34\" or 87cm
