Outstanding 1946 Singer 221 Featherweight Sewing Machine with case and some accessories.

Just cleaned inside and out and serviced! Works like a dream, smooth and quiet. She glides across the fabric just like she did when she was new.

This is a machine that ANY seamstress would love to sew on. This lovely Featherweight has been cleaned in and out, oiled, greased & timed by a professional. The drip pad that catches any oil or grease from servicing inside the bottom cover has been changed so it is clean & without any odor. (Old oil will give off a strong unpleasant smell.) The bobbin case, rotary hook, hand wheel & motor pulley have all been checked for embedded thread and cleaned.

All parts on this machine are the original 221 Featherweight parts. The light switch and bulb work, too.

. The tension has been adjusted to perfectly balance the upper and lower thread tension. I recently used it on 10 layers of cotton fabric, see photos, but re-adjusting it for other fabric weights is easy. This beauty has been cleaned in and out, but I didn\'t want to add any fancy coatings on the paint or decals. I\'ll leave that to you if you want to change her historical look and feel. All I\'ve done is give her a simple waxing to show off her famous hi-gloss shine!

The original foot controller works perfectly, allowing you to sew at the speed you want to, nice and smooth. The entire power cord is VERY flexible and supple.

The \"Scrolled Face Plate\" is as bright and shiny as ever with no scratches, and the Celtic Chain pattern decals are mostly still there. The fold-up extension bed moves easily and aligns perfectly with no sagging.

The Singer 221 featherweight is one of the most desirable sewing machines ever built by the Singer Sewing Machine Company, due to its lightweight construction and superb versatility. Using the various attachments a seamstress may use this machine for sewing, quilting, dressmaking, alterations, embroidery, decorative stitching, bias seams, French seams, tucking, plaiting, appliques, applying buttons, making buttonholes, darning, binding, ruffling, gathering, edging, hemming, piping, and creating all kinds of crafts and gifts from the heart. The Featherweight is a precision belt driven, low shank, rotary hook sewing machine, which uses Class 221/301 bobbins and SCHMETZ or SINGER needles. Its weight is minimal (10 lbs.), making it very portable and easy to carry to quilting bees and sewing circles.

This great Featherweight is a true Quilter\'s and Seamstress\' Dream! Featherweights are incredible to sew on and so easy to maintain compared to the newer machines. There are absolutely NO PLASTIC PARTS on the machine and because there are ALL METAL parts she will last another 68 years if maintained with the same LOVE she\'s had all her life. She WILL rival ANY brand new expensive machine on the market! The Serial Number AG820145 is dated To Sept 1946, and was made in Elizabethport, New Jersey, USA to last forever. This is a 68 year old vintage sewing machine that has been an active part of her family for all those years. Cosmetically she shows all the proof of that. There are some age appropriate pin scratches on the black sewing surfaces. The case shows minor scratches consistent with age and use, and the handle shows some wear but is still strong and functional.
