Vintage 1970s MATCHING PAIR of Porcelain VASES SIGNED WOLF BAUER for Hutschenreuther Germany This classic retro mid century pattern was designed by textile designer Wolf Bauer and named Bignonia (perhaps a play on words with begonia). It has orange and red flowers surrounded by green foliage, all outlined in gold. One vase is a wide square, almost a fan vase. The other is a bud vase.

About the Designer
Wolf Bauer (b. 1939) is a designer from Stuttgart, Germany who is known for his textile designs for Knoll. (Knoll has its roots in Bauhaus furniture.) His work is characterized by bold colors and organic themes evocative of the sixties. The Bauer Print Collection (Collage,Fragment,Delta, andStones) won the New York Industrial Award for Design Excellence in 1970; that same year Bauer\'s textile designs were the subject of a solo exhibition at the design center in Stuttgart. His designs are in the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Design Museum.
