Description

This is a charming vintage childrens\' book with wonderful illustrations, copyright 1953, first edition. The delightful story is based on Mrs. Newberry\'s own experiences when she first came to New York with her eight-year-old son and his mischievous Siamese kitten he named Pounce. It is illustrated with 22 magnificent pictures in Conte crayon (six in two colors) in the soft, furry technique for which Mrs. Newberry is so famous.
Blue hardcover, ex-library with the usual ID markings inside, but no markings outside. The cover has scuffing to edges. Paste down from dust jacket inside rear cover - no dust jacket available. Inside pages are nice and have no rips - an occasional finger smudge - all tight to a strong binding. The title page and page opposite have a dark mark at the bottom page edge - others are fine. A wonderful vintage book ~ out of print & hard to find!
