*Vintage Japanese GLASS FISHING FLOAT Rare MADE IN JAPAN Kanji Maker\'s Mark (#26)*
This float is approximately 11 1/2\" inches in circumference. It is a little larger than a baseball. It is made of hand blown glass. This is a Japanese fishing float was actually used and has spent much of its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed and Japanese fishing floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years of use in the ocean. This float has thick glass with bubbles and is a beautiful aqua blue-green color (see photos). It has a rare kanji maker\'s mark seal on the pontil thatreads \"MADE IN JAPAN\"(see photos).This marking means that this float was made for export pursuant to the McKinley Tariff Act as amended in 1914. The act as amended in 1914. required that Japanese items exported into the United Statesbe marked \"MADE IN JAPAN\". Japanese export items were so marked until WWII. Every vintage float is different and this one has many beautiful unique features (see photos).
