This is a gorgeous, sweet Vintage Japanese Lacquer Geisha Jewelry Music Box circa 1950\'s era, in excellent condition overall, & mint condition inside the box, with a tall, exquisite geisha figure in full costume kimono & elaborate, extravagant hair-do of the geisha.The red & black lacquer box has a fabulous scenic decor on the top with outstanding abalone, or Mother-of-Pearl, shell inlay woven into the scene beautifully, and the red & black scenic decor is continued around the sides of the box. Measuring 8\" x 6\" x 4\" tall, there is room for jewelry inside, & when you open the lid, the music starts to play, & the gorgeous geisha figure turns around to the music on her red & black lacquer base with a metal heart-shape stand, as her beautiful reflection is revealed in the bank of shining, bright mirrors behind her. Inside also is a matching covered, tasseled box for jewelry storage as well.The box is marked Japan on the bottom, with an emblem or logo of a golden face as well. But what is also to note is that there are signed Japanese characters as signature on the metal lock of the box on the inside, see photo, that appears more in these older boxes of this period, consistent with its age being of the 1950\'s.The music box mechanism is that of I.C.A. New York, & it plays the beautiful & appropriate \"I Could Have Danced All Night\" flawlessly. I have oiled the music box mechanism to keep it playing for a very long time to come, as this is an heirloom-type treasure that you will want to pass down to your daughters & granddaughters alike, for the beautiful memories it will engender in each of them.There are few flaws in this box, just to mention, that is a crack in the lacquer only,on the scenic top of the box, that isn\'t so noticeable in person as in these photos, & the fact that the busy scene on the top does help to conceal this minor flaw in such a gorgeous box as this is. Indeed, this is the kind of thing that you accept in an antique treasure, as it only adds to the \"charm\" of the antique itself, especially in remembering that this dates from the 1950\'s!
