This is a beautiful 19th century teapot dating to between 1872 and 1900 made of Britannia metal by the famous maker Thomas Otley & Sons of Sheffield.
This maker specialised in designs of an organic nature and this is no exception with the ribbed body echoed in the domed lid having a finial of acorns and oak leaves on the lid. It stands on 4 pierced work raised feet, the hinge on the lid is good and the lid finial is undamaged. It is design number 1880.
This is a genuine cabinet piece. The base has been repaired in places over the years and I would use this purely for display.
It stands 7.25 inches or 18.5 cms tall and is approx 17 cms across the base.
Thomas Otley also supplied goods to the trade for silver plating.All the items listed have been lightly polished and cleaned so that any defects, previous repairs or damage can be seen in the photographs and detailed in the listing.
