BeautifulVintage, Owl Bam, Chinese Bakelite, 152 Hand Carved Tiles, Mahjong Set with CatalinRacks and CaseAll game piece with exception of two replaced tiles, the eight added tiles forjokers and dice are all original to the set.Every component of this set has been cleaned by hand.

SetDescription:. Pair of vintage dice, new old stock. Red Lucite with white pips. Measurement: Approximately 5/8 inch square. . 48 vintage, 7/8 inch diameter, casein smoothcoins. 12 each of red, blue, peachy-pinkand green. The coins have been cleaned. . 4 vintage red and cream swirl Catalin racks. These are very nice and heavy racks, thestoppers and racks are one piece. Coin holders are silver tone. Beautiful, Catalinwith light swirl, no cracks. The Catalinhas been cleaned and polished, light wear marks. Coin holders have some wear to the silverplating. All flippies work and aretight. Rack measurements: Total lengthwith coin holder, approximately 18 inches. Playing field 15-3/8 inches.. Vintage brown case with two tile trays, lined in luxurious red velvet. The outside of the case is worn in places andhas had a bit of restoration work as the fabric was coming away from the woodframe (please see photos). The fabric hasbeen glued and sealed with a water-based sealer to prevent any more fabric wearor loss. The case interior lid is lined with padded red velvet; the two tile traysare lined in red velvet. The velvet isin nice condition with light wear and a few dark spots. The case has a heavy leatherhandle; it has also been sealed to preventing further loss of leather. The hardwarehas a light brown patina. Measurement: Approximately 20 x 8 x 3 inches. . 152 beautiful vintage, hand carved and painted, solidChinese Bakelite tiles. Nicely carved tiles featuring the fantastic owl bam,wonderful one dots, white dragons and two beautiful flower bouquets. One flower bouquet makes two lovely short scenes. The paint is in wonderful condition on mosttiles, a little light paint loss on a few.The tiles are in nice condition with light wear marks from age and play.Wear markings are consistent with normal play use. A few tiles with scratches, random marks orflea bites, or with subtle stains. A ninecrack and a one bam, have very small chips, please see the photo. A two dot and a two crack tile have beenreplaced with closely matching tiles. Eightadded tiles have been stickered as joker tiles with CHarli’s wonderful “ScenicBridge” stickers. All added tiles areclose in size to the original set. Inthe photos of the complete tile set, the tiles have been turned over in place. These tiles have been cleaned by hand. Tile measurements approximately: 1 3/16 x 7/8x 15/32 inches.

It was not manufactured utilizingmodern technology with precision controls and exact results. Pieces and partswere in many cases made by hand, up to 90 years ago. There may be somevariation in color and/or size as well as manufacturing artifacts or remnantssuch as surface cracking, scratches or flea bites in the Catalin, Bakelite,resin, Celluloid, Lucite, or other plastics as the material cooled. Chips andflea bites may be a result of materials used as fillers in the plastics or howthe set was played with or stored. There may also be variation in the paintcolors from suit to suit if the set tiles were painted at different times usingdifferent batches of paint.Some tiles are made from more than one type of materials. Some of the pieces ofa tile may shrink differently than others and over time the tile components mayseparate. Game tiles may also separate during normal play. If the piecesseparate, a simple tacky, water clean-up, crafter\'s glue will work nicely toreattach the pieces. On rare occasion, pieces may separate during shipping. In an effort to get the product to market quickly, many of thevintage wooden boxes were made with green wood. As the wood dried, it may havesplit, shrunk or cracked in places. This is what makes the sets vintage andunique and brings the wonderful character and charm that makes mahjong sets sovery popular. Vintage sets are unique in that they bear the maker\'s personaltouch.Vintage metal will show its age and character. The money holders, case locksand other metal components may have an uneven patina, spots of oxidation ornormal use wear associated with age. Additionally, if dissimilar metals wereused to make the parts, there will be areas of galvanic corrosion where the twometal types are joined.If you are expecting that all of the pieces match in size and color exactlythen you probably do not want a vintage set.
