You are offerding on the exact item in the photos. Measures about 9\" tall .

I do not know a lot of history behind it, so I can only provide the info that is written on the brass shell casing.

The bottom markings lead me to believe that it could possibly be from WWI, as it has numbers; \"1905 , R 23 L, 47 T R\" there are also some other marks that look like; 0289, R6, and what looks like a crescent moon shape.,

The art on the side of the casing says: \"Souvenir D\'Alsace\" near the top and then; \"E-A 1939-1940\" near the bottom.. I\'m guessing that maybe the shell was fired during World War one (WW1) and then decorated after France declared war on Germany after the invasion into Poland in 1939 at the start of World War Two (WW2).. ? but that\'s just a guess... either way, it\'s still a nice piece that is at least 75 years old.

There is also very intricate artwork of Ivy leaves and vines wrapping around the shell.
