This is a guaranteed original iron wafer press that dates back to the early to mid 19th century.
It is a nice example of Early American Folk Art.
The hearts, flowers and birds give this a strong Pennsylvania Dutch flavor.
The engraved press plates measure 3 inches by 6 inches and the iron handles have been hammer welded to the plate hinge part. Overall length is 22 5/8 inches.
