Offered in this listing is a circa 1925 WATERMAN 42-1/2V safety pen.. a silver overlay ring top, eye dropper filled pen. This pen is 3-3/4\" with the cap on and posted it is about 4-7/8\" long. The silver overlay on the cap is monogrammed KSMwith a strongly Gothic font. The only fault on the silver is just above and to the left of this monogram, where there is a short, deep gouge. The base of the cap overlayis marked WATERMAN\'S STERLING and on the bottom of the barrel overlay, STERLING. There is a three line barrel imprint at the base, WATERMAN\'S, U.S. PAT. OFF., MADE IN U.S.A., photo 7.On the bottom of thebarrel, the model 42-1/2V is imprinted with red highlightingstill visible, photo 12. Aside from the silver gouge, photo 8, the silver and hard rubberis all in excellent condition. The advance and retraction of the nib is accomplished by twisting the base..it\'s not as smooth as onewould like, and sometimes a littledifficult to fully retract the nib. The nib is a WATERMAN IDEAL and assumed a #2. It has, as can be seen in the photos,9/10/11, a sharp downward bend at the tip... due no doubt to closing the cap without full retraction of the nib. It needs straightened and theinterior cleaned well enough to ensure smooth retraction. Aside from the bend, the nib has good iridium and seems to be quite flexible.
