DescriptionThis original 1915 sepia-toned postcard titled
“THE WILTSHIRES CHEERING DURING THE GREAT ADVANCE”
is an Official War Photograph from the Daily Mail Battle pictures Series 6, No.42.
Rear has “PASSED BY CENSOR” stamp and a paragraph reading:
“No regiment has done better than the Wiltshire”, said King George early in 1915, and since then the two gallant battalions have added greatly to their laurels.
Printed in England this postcard was never posted.

The Wiltshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1881. Nearly 5,000 officers and other ranks of the Wiltshire Regiment were killed in action during the Great War.
