Thisis a classic piece of Navy Bureau of Ships gear from WW ll.

Less common than the larger QuartermasterSpyglass, these spyglasses were beautifully made optical instruments with 10power magnification.

Itwas made by the Beck-Lee Co. in 1942 and bears the serial # 4942. It has two hexagonal rings fore and aft tokeep it from rolling off the bridge. Ithas a large, calibrated focusing ring.Made of heavy brass, this was meant to stand up to wartime use. It isabout 23\" long. The tiger oak case is heavily made with handsome brasslatches and hinges. Approximate casemeasurements: 24.75\" by 4\" by4\".

Theglass has obviously been used as there is a little paint loss in the focusingring area and a few minor abrasions here and there. The lens are sharp. No scratches on the optics, however thereappears to be some small dust or paint flakes inside the front element. This should be an easy fix if it is apriority for you. The case also showssome nicks and dings, again of the minor sort.All in all this is a military gem.
