You are offerding on an AMAZING example of a used WW2 USAAF Pilot Shirt! This SPECIFIC item belonged to a Captured US Pilot who stayed at both Stalag Luft III (\"The Great Escape\") and Stalag Luft 7A! Sadly, I do not have any history of who the veteran is, but based on the dates he was shot down, as well as his signature/initials, one could possibly find out who he was specifically!

Made of cotton this is a FANTASTIC item! This is the EXACT shirt in which the US Pilot Veteran was shot down in! There is some wear, marks, and tears due to the age, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance. Most of the tears and holes look as though they are a result of the crash. A SUPERB display item! This comeswith hand-written note from the veteran that indicates:

Liberated on 4-29-45

- Bar is original. Alan

had \"bent\" 2nd Lt. Bar

(which undoubtedly stopped

undisclosed metal object

from entering my neck.\"

Sadly, the bent bar was not with the shirt when I acquired it. The hand-sewn Pilot Wing/Propeller on the collar is interesting. I know the vet\'s first initial is \"D\" based on the note left with the pipe (see other sale), and with his signature on this note, I suspect someone could ID exactly who this. 100% original, it would make a PERFECT addition to anycollection, or display!
