The A.P. Hill (0111 - A.P. Hill - WSAT (550) USAT) was a Liberty Ship that saw service during World War 2, named after Ambrose Powell Hill Jr., a Confederate Army General who was killed in the American Civil War. 0111 was the Maritime Commission Hull Number. WSAT stands for War Shipping Administration Transport. USAT stands for Army Transportation Service. The 550 was the number of troops the ship could hold. Included are two \"Down Hill\" newsletters, both printed aboard the ship. One from October 18th, 1945 (Vol. 1 No. 13), while they were still at sea. Another from October 21st, 1945 (Vol. 1 No. 16), upon their arrival back in the U.S., in Boston. And there is a Transport Regulations sheet from October 1st, 1945, 5 days before the ship\'s departure from Antwerp, Belgium on October 6th, 1945 to return home to the U.S.. Even if the ship was at max capacity during its voyage home, these are a rarity, and it is doubtful all still exist! All are double sided, I believe they are mimeograph prints. Each is just one page, they are complete. Overall all three are in decent condition and still very legible. The regulations sheet has the heaviest wear, with some small dings on one side, a very tiny piece missing, that can be seen in the photos. Condition is best described by viewing the photos, but as some things do not stand out so much in the photos, they were once folded, so there is creasing, and they were kept flat in a scrapbook for decades, so the creasing has been flattened. Folding is not recommended, as the paper has dried over time. There is also some tanning to the paper not as obvious in the photos, as my camera\'s flash makes them appear slightly more white.
