This sale is for a great WWI Marines Football team photograph taken in Germany.
The photo shows a group of marine soldiers in their uniforms, with their leader holding a football on which is painted: 73rd Co. 6th Marines.
Flanking the top and bottom margins of the photo are the last names of all of the marines.
The board of the photo measures just over 8 inches by 6 inches.
The board features a photographers mark that is tough to read, but appears to read: Kevin Schiors Photograph, Honningen A RH.
Honnigen is a section of Germany in the Rhineland area, and in the Ahrweiler district.
This is a great early photograph which combines militaria and sport.
