WWII / WW2 U.S. Army, Over 510 Letters Sent Home to Sweetheart, Dating from 1941 -1945, Soldier from a Soldier in the 34th Engineer Combat Battalion. This is a huge grouping of WWII Letters sent from a U.S. Army Soldier serving in the 34th Engineer Combat Battalion. There are over 510 individual letters. About 470 or so are from the same Solider in the 34th Eng. Combat Battalion and about 40 letters from a U.S. Soldier in the 303 Medical Battalion. All of the letters are addressed to the same Woman ”Miss Gussie Kounatsky” in Philadelphia. All of the letters from Edward Wise Jr. serving in the 34th Eng. Combat Battalion are well written and all of the letters are several pages or more in length. All of the letters, V-Mail and a few Postcards are in excellent condition. I only looked at a few dozen of the letters and it would take quite a long time to open them all up and read them. Some of the letters are still tied up in a bundle and others are stored in a couple of boxes. I was amazed at the number of letters that were written by Edward Wise Jr. which are dated from late 1941 through 1945. The letters from “Pat J. Freifeld, 303 Medical Battalion are dated 1943. The letters from Edward Wise Jr. have the “Passed by Army Examiner”, or Passed by Army Censor” stamp on the envelopes.
