This is an interesting grouping of 3 original WWII frontline letters, written in Italy between July 1944 and early 1945 by an American soldier who served in combat as a Sherman tank gunner in the 755th Tank Battalion. This soldier served first in North Africa, and then served in combat throughout the 1943-45 campaign in Italy.

There are three original letters, contained in a single February 1945 censored cover. There is a 2 page letter written on the 31st of July 1944, a 5 page letter (with part of the second page cut out by the censor) written on the 29th of January 1945, and finally a 2 page letter on oversized stationery (either German or Italian) written on the 21st of March 1945. There is interesting and emotional content throughout these three letters.

The condition is generally very good. The 5 page January 1945 letter has wear to the first two pages, as well as the censor cutting. The final three pages of this letter are written on different stationery than the first two pages.

*** These letters were written by Corporal Bernard A. Robbins of Michigan. Corporal Robbins served in combat in Company B, 755th Tank Battalion, which fought at Monte Cassino, the Gothic Line, in the Northern Apennines, and more.

The 755th Tank Battalion was a separate battalion, never permanently attached to any one division. The battalion served in combat attached to several different divisions. The battalion was attached at times to a number of different American divisions, as well as to the British 8th Army and also to Free French forces. The battalion saw a great deal of combat action in the Italian campaign. Corporal Robbins was with the battalion throughout it\'s combat service.

Interesting original WWII frontline letters, written in Italy by an M4 Sherman tank gunner who saw a great deal of combat action. pays shipping, $3.00 in Canada, $4.00 to the United States, $5.00 Overseas. Immediate payment is required for this listing. I accept Paypal only. Thank you.
