Up for sale is an excellent WWII German U-Boat Watercolor Painting with Original Hat Band, (possibly and most likely by German WW2 Veteran) named W. Grohnert as it includes an original German service member\'s hat band from the U-Boat which is extraordinarily rare. Original watercolor painting is signed, W. Grohnert (lower right), it depicts the U-Boat 3023 which was launched Dec. 2, 1944 and scuttled May 3rd, 1945. The painting clearly identifies the boat as 3023 and depicts the Grinning Fox Emblem above the identification as well as the German Flag on the back of the vessel. A google search on the U-Boat will provide more information about the vessel\'s record. I could not locate the artist W. Grohnert in art databases making it most likely he may have served on the U-Boat himself and the hat band may have been his. If someone has the list of those whom served aboard the U-Boat or has information on Grohnert in German Military Service, please contact us so we can update the listing. This came out of an estate sale which had many edged WW2 era daggers, a uniform, helmet, and various medals, many naval so its probably the original owner\'s item he painted as a memoir of his service. I have never seen anything like this as its quite unique and looks amazing.Framed as shown in the photos and ready to hang in outstanding condition with no major defects on the painting. This is a great looking painting with wonderful presentation with the hat band.
