Item Description WWII M1895 Steyr F.G.GY. Maker Austro Hungarian Knife & Sheath Mannlicher BayoDetails

This is a 100% original authentic Knife with Metal Sheath for a Mannlicher Model M1895. Marked F.G.GY. - maker which is Austro-Hungary at the time of - WWI. On the other side of the sword is another stamp looking like a coat of arms.

The hilt is marked on the side 2599 - engraved by hand. I believe that this could be the soldier\'s number or something.

All in very good authentic condition.

It was nicknamed theRuck-Zu(rü)ck(German slang for \"back and forth\") by Austrian troops and \"Ta-Pum\" by Italian troops who even wrote a song about it duringWorld War I.

The M1895 is unusual in employing a straight-pull bolt action, as opposed to the more common rotating bolt-handle of other rifles. It is consequently renowned for combining a highrate of fire(around 30–35 rounds per minute) with reliability and sturdiness, although this requires decent care and maintenance with an extractor that is vulnerable to breakage due to a lack of primary extraction.
