This sale is for an original 1940\'s large format negative by Lou Varro.
Taken during his service in WWII at the B-24 bomber airfield at Pantanella, Italy near Canosa.
This was used in the base memorial publication and was entitled \"Canosa Jenny.\"
It has not been retouched and may show marks, dust, or spots.

Lou Varro was stationed in southern Italy (780th Bombardment Squadron) during WWII and first worked as a processor for films that came off bomber planes after they were sent for an attack. He also created pin-up calendars for planes and huts. These photographs are from Lou\'s estate. He recently passed away at the age of 97 and was a close friend of mine. His art is on display at the Smithsonian and he is famous for his paintings. He rarely sold his art, donating his best 234 paintings in April of 2000 to the permanent collection of the Missouri Art Council.
