Rare War of 1812 era silvered infantry officer\'s button manufactured by Peasley of Boston. Great original finish. An online relics website gives the history of the button as follows:Made around 1812-1815. Large coat size with extremely fine features. Showing in super detail the eagle holding in its beak a ribbon with \"PRO PATRIA\" and the trophy of Flags below, with INFY. \"PRO PATRIA\" is latin and means one\'s country. The back has the great early backmark of Peasley over a ghost mark of \"TREBLE GILT/ ORANGE. Rare in any condition.This button is assuradly a Sheffield silver plated copper, blank planchat button, imported to the states, where Peasley put his die stamp impression and great early backmark on. Just a super cool button with great history to it.
